Tom & Heather – Mr. and Mrs. taking the plunge

Oh come on, I had to name it that! They figuratlvely and literally took the plunge after their wedding on October 22nd…..Tom and Heather had the crazy idea to jump into the freezing cold water the North Chickamauga Creek blue holes…..so who am I to deny them their photo receiving rights?! Let it be known that it was actually their idea, I would technically never suggest that someone jump into this cold of water, but really who want’s to wait until next summer when you have a good idea?!

I’m sure her bridal shop, Monica’s Bridal, and the dress maker would pass out after seeing what she’s done to her dress….my theory, it will wash out (:

Take a look…..

I don’t think any single person (unless they have done this before) can comprehend how cold this water is. Even in the summer it’s VERY cold, in November, probably less than 40 degrees!

Brady & Whitney – Engaged

We met one sunny afternoon a few weeks ago at Fairyland Club on Lookout Mountain with Whitney’s daughter Kailey and Brady an although the session was sort of short these three rocked it out! Brady and Whitney are getting married this coming January and we are thrilled to be a part of it. See you guys very soon!

The Smiths

I could seriously let these photos speak for themselves, but you know I won’t be able to do that! Rich and Heather Smith are amazing friends our ours and and also happen to be seriously awesome photographers. Rich was one of the first photographers in Chattanooga that I looked at when beginning my career as a wedding photographer. He’s always been an encouraging source for me as a photographer and he inspires me as an artist. If I haven’t told you already Rich, thanks so much for that! He also recently photographed our little family, check out his amazing images from that session HERE.

Rich and Heather have two girls, Alana and Sierra. They are so adorable, it’s hard not to smile when you look at their cute faces. Their love for one another as a family when interacting is so sweet, you can’t help love being around them!

Thank you for having me document this sweet time in your lives with such precious girls! Eric and I adore you as friends and are so thankful to have you in our lives (-:

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: The Sharrock Family

Has anyone heard that ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition came to Chattanooga?? Totally joking, it’s the only thing on the news the past few weeks! Actually the crew set up shop in a small town outside of Chattanooga, Rossville, Georgia. As you know, Michael, Cindy and Patrick Sharrock were chosen as the family to receive a new home. Patrick is the sweetest, smartest child who just happens to have Type 3 OI (osteogenesis imperfecta). Not that this diagnosis gets him down, he has a bigger than life heart (and voice! sorry Patrick!) and you’re the lucky one if you get a few minutes to visit with him.

This past February Eric and I had the privilege to be chosen as the photographers to photograph the Sharrocks….no pressure right?! We were contacted by a sweet design producer by the name of Heather H., who nicely asked if we would come take photos of the family. Silly girl, my camera bag was already packed!

When the day arrived, we waited for a little while for the family to arrive, then we had approximately 20 minutes to capture the essence of a family we had never met……WOW, insert lump in throat. Thankfully, Michael, Cindy and Patrick were wonderful to work with. They were so elated from the news that they just received that their sincere emotions made our jobs pretty easy.

I want to personally thank our contact design producer Heather H. for gently leading us the right way in an environment that we were totally unfamiliar. Also, a huge thank you to CPQ and Hardwood Frames for their generous donation of prints, frames and products. Lastly, let’s not forget the amazing guys at Art Warehouse for the beautiful frames for the home! Without those donations we couldn’t have produced the final product. The images that we took now hang on the walls on the finished house built by Vision Homes and thousands of volunteers.

Welcome home Sharrock family, welcome home.

The Hamakers

Hmmm where do I start with these two?! Well first a history lesson, I met Shannon and her son, Foy, at Creative Discovery Museum playgym when Foy and Madyson were still slobbery little babies. Little did I know that a few playdates would turn into not only a a wonderful friendship, but a whole new look for my business as well. Steve is one mastermind of a graphic designer at SouthSide Creative Group and I’m so thrilled that he created the logo that we use throughout our business. Now after that shameless plug for an awesome designer, on to the photos!

Since it was near their anniversary, Shannon thought it would be cute to surprise Steve with a little wedding dress modeling, fun!

This series of images sums up my friends in a nutshell.

But there’s a romantic side of course too!

The Hegeman Family

I was about to post about this precious family and realized I had not posted about their friend Liz who actually introduced us, yikes! So to no avail, I’ve got both done in one day, now that’s amazing. I met this family early September and enjoyed them right from the start. Julia is the youngest of the Hegemans and boy do her parents love her! Her big brother Victor is a sweet, watchful brother who was camera ready during our entire session….got to love that! Thank you Amanda and John for having me in your home to document your family and the arrival of your new baby girl.

Also, I’m always trying to get inside my client’s minds to make sure I know how they feel. I had a random thought and wanted to share it. You’ve got your favorites and I’ve got mine! My favorites are just that, my favorites! It doesn’t mean that I don’t like the others that you were shown in your slideshow, it just means something special caught my eye about these and that’s why I’m posting them on this blog. I love to see what images my clients choose to hang in their home. It says something about them personally as well as they style. If I’ve got an image in your gallery it means that there was something about it that I liked. On that note….here’s MY favorites from the day.

Baby Josephine

I’m working on getting caught up on this wonderful online communication tool called the Soli Blog, I’ve got so much to share with you. First let’s talk about Josephine’s Mommy and Daddy and how much I love them! Liz and Seth are wonderful parents first of all, very doting and completely in love with their daughter. We share many similarities with views on life in general, I’m so fortunate to have them in my life…..client and friend. Now on to the fun part….their little Josephine was born in in August. Now that she’sis almost 3 months old let’s go ahead and show a few of her Liz’s maternity photos and Josephine’s newborn ones. Shall we? Ok!

Ashlynn is 6 months already?!

She’s grown a lot since our first session that’s for sure! Ashlynn’s Mommy, Kara, is the older sister of one of my long time best friends. I’m so happy that she planned her One Sweet Year session with me for Ashlynn first year. This is our third session and I think it might be my favorite…..what do you think?!

While Ashlynn finished her nap in her car seat, I accidentally got this shot, I hate it when that happens!

This was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! Passersby thought Ashlynn was the sweetest thing so they wanted to help out with the photo session to get her to smile. It most certainly worked! Look at these grown men cooing!

The Coburn Family

Several years ago I photographed Rob and Alisha’s wedding and they haven’t been able to get rid of me since! For this session we quickly gathered for a quick family session, then switched gears to concentrate on Riley and his best friend Ayden. I also photographed Ayden’s parent’s wedding (Laura and Brad) shortly after Alisha and Rob’s, how fun is that!? Anyways, the boys had a blast running around and getting into everything like little boys do. Riley did everything he could to try and jump into the fountains at the Choo Choo, dive out of the train to give me a kiss or run from me of course….but those made for the best pictures (:

Thank you Alisha, Rob, Brad & Laura for having me as your friend and photographer all these years!

Sweet baby Elizabeth

This is Elizabeth. Isn’t she the cutest thing?! I can’t get over how she cuts her eyes over at me in almost every single picture. Her Daddy, Matt, says that she’s very good at that. I think it means she’s super smart and very curious! Elizabeth gave her parents a scare when she was born. She has a rare lung disease, but her Mommy, Sheila, says she’s getting better and better every day. But Elizabeth being sick is not what this session was about. It’s about how these two wonderfully strong parents love this amazing little girl. It’s about a family that’s made it through so much and has everything to show for it. It’s about Elizabeth and how she’s growing, laughing and becoming everything her parents dreamed she would be.

Thank you so much, Matt and Sheila, for allowing me into your lives to document your beautiful family. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the three of you.
