Tim & Pamela – Day After session

Two of my favorite people, Tim and Pamela were married back in June and Eric and I were thrilled to be there to celebrate their amazing wedding day. We were also lucky enough to photograph them prior to their wedding and even a “Day After” session similar to Esala and Lena’s a few posts back. Enough talking, on with the photos!

Let’s start with the pre-wedding session…..these were taken a few weeks prior to their wedding in Pamela’s first wedding dress. She had two beautiful dresses to wear, she wanted to make it count!!

And now for their Day After session a few weeks later….the first one with their babies Prissy and Dolly!

Esala and Lena’s Day After session in Natchez, Mississippi

I’ve wanted to blog about this session for a while and I’m finally catching up! You may remember Esala and Lena’s southern wedding in Natchez, Mississppi earlier this year. They were married at the historic(and haunted!) Dunleith Plantation on May 22, 2010. Lena planned her destination wedding to be in Natchez, which is near and dear to my heart….it’s where I was born and it’s also where Eric and I met! She found me online by searching for all things “Natchez” and hired me as her wedding photographer. Needless to say I was thrilled to come back to Natchez for another amazing wedding. We love photographing weddings in Natchez, there’s something so sweet and southern about it and reminiscent of older times.

Esala and Lena are amazing. They’ve practically kept their beautiful relationship alive via their cell phones. Lena’s in North Carolina finishing up her residency while Esala in working in Chicago. Due to all of us being spread out around the country, we weren’t able to meet for an engagement session. Knowing this, Lena scheduled a Day After session to make certain she would have more than enough images of her and her husband. For those that aren’t familiar with a Day After session (although the name is pretty self-explanatory), it’s a session just for a couple either the day after or weeks after their wedding to get additional photos in their wedding finery. And oh how fine Lena and Esala were right?! (check out photos below)

Although Lena and Esala saw each other prior to the ceremony, I highly recommend a Day After session for couples that chose not to see each other. There’s so much pressure and a potential to feel rushed when you push your couple alone portraits to the end of the ceremony and this is the perfect remedy to an otherwise stressful situation. A Day After session is more relaxed and couples seem to be more relaxed too without all the business of a wedding going on at the same time. If you’re planning to not see each other before the ceremony, definitely consider this option….what have you got to lose?!

Everyone was up rather late the night before dancing the night away at their reception. We met at about 7:45am the morning after…..how did they end up looking this fab?

I love the wedding clothes that Lena and Esala chose. It fit so perfectly with their beautiful, southern wedding theme.

Hello awesome, random courtyard.

Just Alexis

Adrian asked, “Are you going to put something cool in front of Alexs’ name name like you did mine?” (which was Amazing Adrian if you must know!) Since their names both start with “A” how am I to follow up on such a request? I mean, technically speaking both girls are equally amazing, but I think for today Alexis can just be Alexis! Alexis graduating high school this coming year and I’m very excited for her. There’s something about photographing seniors (which I don’t get to do often enough!) that is really fun for me. Maybe it’s that she’s so excited about it being her last year of high school, or perhaps it’s that she’s about to become a “real” adult and there’s something so empowering about that.

Thank you Alexis for allowing me to document such a fun time in your life. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

The Mikel family

Wow I’m on a blog posting roll, let’s keep this going! I met up with this sweet family a few weeks ago. Kate is such a great big sister….she enjoys giving kisses to her brother Joseph and pushing him down in the grass as well. Hey what are big sisters for?! This family’s love and sweet interaction made for a perfect session.

Enjoy!

Shine on me glorious sunlight!

Mallory – my favorite almost senior in high school!

Mallory started helping me last month as my fabulous assistant/intern as part of her senior project for her graduation. If you’ve ordered prints or received a package from me in the last month she was likely the creator! She loves anything photography related and like listening to me yap about all things photography…..well at least the first part is true! She’s lots of fun to have around and is always willing to help when I need it. I love getting her unbiased opinion on things that I hate deciding on my own, thanks girl!

Yesterday we took a break from editing and office work and went outside for some quick pics…..Isn’t she beautiful?

Happy 1st birthday Ria!

You’ve seen this beautiful family many times on this blog, but this one takes the cake…..literally! I can’t believe Ria is 1 already. It seems like just yesterday I photographed her when she was brand new and then again at 6 months. I adore being able to see a child grow over the course of a year’s time. Capturing those changes with my camera is a special treat! Veryll and Jermaine, again thank you so much for sharing your family with me, I love you guys very much!

Maci and Presleigh

I met these two sweeties a few weeks ago, get a load of their beautiful eyes, let alone faces! The expressions that Presleigh (the youngest) can make are priceless, while the playful smiles of her older sis Maci melt your heart. Their Mom, Meghan (yes spelled the same!), said that she wanted images that reflected how fun they were, not how perfectly pretty they could sit. Well I certainly think that we accomplished the fun part, plus they look pretty (:

A few favorites from the day…starting with sweet Presleigh.

This is Maci. She charged my camera and I liked it!

This is a face of confusion. I think she was confused at my famous animal noises. Not all of them sound like the animals they actually are!

Every girl needs a pink pair of shoes.

Stop it Maci!!

Alexandra – Bridal sneak peek

The amazing, stunning, absolutely drop-dead gorgeous Alex gave me permission to post this lil sneak peak of her……hey we had to leave something to the imagination! I’m looking forward to the look on Hunter’s face when he sees her in THE dress. They are opting for a First Look and I’ll be happy to share that with you after their May 29th wedding day!

Baby Ashlynn – Portraits

Meet sweet Ashlynn. She’s only a week old in these photos and already her Mommy’s world and her Daddy’s main girl. Kara and Scott are amazing parents already being very attentive to their daughter. They prepared the most precious nursery for Ashlynn and she seems to be pretty comfy in it! Thanks for allowing me into your home while Ashlynn was so young. I can’t wait for our next session to see how much she’s grown! Hopefully there will be more sleep involved by then too (:

Sweet nursery details….

Baby burrito.

Can you feel the love?!

Brothers, Andrew + Ryan – Portraits

I hope you are getting your fill of children and sweet little baby portraits because I’ve got several more to catch up on! Although we are primarily wedding photographers, I LOVE spending the time with precious babies, energy-filled children and their adoring parents. Speaking of energy filled children, these are the Fillauer boys, Andrew and Ryan. I enjoyed chasing them around the park on a sunny afternoon, although I don’t know if it was entertaining their Mom! Jennifer I think you were nervous to see how they would turn out, I remember you saying, “I don’t know how you will come up with a single one, they move too much!” Well friend, you’re right, they do move a lot. But that’s what little boys are best at!

Thanks so much for trusting me and I would be happy to break sweat for those boys again sometime soon. Hopefully sooner than later now that their new little brother Ben has arrived!

Here’s a few favorites from the day….

Yes, he’s running from me….

Caught him (:

I  love this shot of Andrew….it’s so little-boyish.
